Advance the role of the Downrigger Rod Every year the goal of Okuma Fishing Tackle is to advance the fishing experience. To date, the primary design component of down rigger rods has been durability, often at the expense of responsiveness and sensitivity in the hand. All-new Cold Water rods advance the down rigger rod with graphite construction that not only delivers through the hook set, but also makes fighting fish a far more rewarding experience.
Cold Water rods begin with 24-Ton carbon fiber rod blanks. Extremely durable, the material makes possible small diameters and more responsive rods through which the full fish-fighting experience is enjoyed. As many as twelve low- profile stainless steel guides minimize rod twist and positively control line flow. The handle systems include comfortable and supremely light EVA grips fore and rear with cushioned stainless steel hooded reel seats. Ten all-new models emphasize salmon, steelhead and lake trout, including technique-specific actions for down riggers, planer boards and Dipsy divers. Rod lengths span from 7 to 10.5' with medium, medium-heavy and heavy powers. Cold Water rods are finished in a beautiful pearlescent white with ice blue graphics.

Now Available With Tournament Drag Cam Okuma Makaira big game reels have redefined angling with refined, yet absolutely authoritative stopping power. With a focus on their namesake blue marlin, giant tuna and deep water leviathans, the drag output of Makaira reels reach up to 70-pounds of maximum drag with complete freespool. Now providing the ultimate solution for IGFA and light line tournament anglers, Makaira reels are now available with factory installed Tournament Drag Cams.
Within standard Makaira reels, achieving the high-end drag outputs means the internal drag cam must have a steep curve, quickly escalating drag pressure over a short area. It's amazingly powerful, but lacks the precision that IGFA anglers require to take light lines right to the edge of their breaking point. The Okuma Tournament Drag Cam solves the issue.
Swapping of the drag cam on Makaira reels is simple. Current Makaira owners can purchase the Tournament Drag Cam as an accessory for $25 to $30, based upon size, and have a reel with two distinct sets of capabilities. For those anglers with precise needs, Makaira reels are available to tackle shops with either drag cam factory installed.

For us at Okuma Fishing Tackle, fishing
is a life-long adventure. Collectively, none of us fish as often,
catch as many, or are as consistently successful as we would like,
and thankfully so. Fishing is not a destination; it's an endless
pursuit that begins long before we ever get to the water. The
anticipation of the next opportunity is as valuable as the time
spent on the water.
At Okuma, we craft the tools for the journey. From entry-level through expert, every rod and reel is constructed not only to execute, but also to excite, energize and exhilarate. From feeling the tap, tap, tap of a drift rig searching its way along the bottom of a steelhead stream, to turning a lifeless lead jig into a fleeing bait-fish in the salt, every cast, crank, bobber down and hookup are the rich details of the journey. Our singular goal is to advance the experience; to extract more from every day on the water. We pursue that goal through the development of forward-thinking materials like C-40X long carbon fiber framing in the all-new Helios and RTX spinning reels. We inspire action with a new line of Cruz popping rods. And we make these experiences accessible to everyone with right and left hand designs like new Cold Water premium line counter reels. As we look across the country, the road ahead is filled with tremendous opportunities and some truly exceptional fisheries. We look forward to sharing them with you. Okuma Fishing Tackle Corporation
