S.O.N.S. is an acronym for "save our Native Species"
S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie is an active angler association established in1981 to promote better fishing in Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie, Erie County. The Association has over 1,600 members.
S.O.N.S., and it's members have been directly involved in many fishery projects such as; establishment of walleye fry stocking program in Presque Isle Bay, hatching and raising over 650,000 walleye and stocking of brown trout, establishment of a liaison with Canadian sportfishing clubs to combat excessive walleye allotments for Canadian commercial fisherman, improved public access, better lighting and facilities at launch ramps, reef construction, establishment of a smallmouth/large mouth spawning season in Presque Isle, elimination of gill netting in PA waters and , rearing of steelhead...and more...
