The Pittsburgh Downriggers is an angler association with its emphasis on angler education and activities to introduce Kids to fishing opportunities.

The Club helps at fish rearing ponds, contributes annually to the "Make a Wish Foundation", takes under privileged kids fishing, and jointly works with other outdoor clubs to hold events to educate and promote fishing.

Each year the club sponsors six outings for members and friends. Sponsors booth at local Sports Shows, provides bus transportation to winter shows, and takes charter trips (head boat charters) to Chesapeake Bay.
