Quantum Cabo Bait Teaser Spinning Reels

Free-spool saltwater spinning reels

“Bait Teaser” may be the name of the newest member in the Cabo PTs saltwater spinning reel family, but in reality their innovative characteristic feature is probably more about bragging than teasing. That’s because these Cabo reels are exactly what anglers have been asking for in the way of easy-to-use and maintain dual-drag designs with the free-spool feature.

Available in 60- and 80-size reels in this series, Bait Teaser allows line to pay out while the bail is closed. The feature uses a lever conveniently located on the back of the reel to activate the rear drag. Returning the reel to the front drag and normal operation requires only an easy turn of the reel’s handle.

Cabo reels have several innovative and proprietary Quantum features: including one-piece aluminum frames and side cover, polymer stainless PT bearing systems, TiMag Salt bail systems with magnetic bail trip, MAGLOCK magnetic Continuous Anti-Reverse, multi-stack Magnum ceramic drag, cold-forged brass face gear with stainless steel pinion, forged aluminum concave spool and solid one-piece screw-in handle.

The new Bait Teaser model is destined to live up to the same kind of expectations and performance.

Quantum Energy PTs Baitcast Reels

They’re leaner and meaner

The 100 % brand new Energy PTs saltwater models are just that … small, light, fast and strong. While Energy might sound familiar because the low-profile baitcast series has been around for a while now, it is part of a new major transformation given the entire PT baitcast family for 2010. The result is dramatically fitter physiques to accompany the long list of Performance Tuned attributes.

For starters the overall weight is reduced two ounces, or around 15 %, from previous PT versions. This was accomplished through a combination of redesigns and use of new materials. With the changes come improvements in performance and maintainability without compromise to durability and features.

These new baitcasters are all-metal reels featuring CNC machined aluminum frames, side-covers and front supports. They also have the new generation Micro ACS external adjustable brake system, PT bearings, MaxCast aluminum skeletal spools and smooth ceramic drags. Even Quantum’s exclusive six-layer Saltguard Corrosion Protection system has had an extreme makeover this year to provide even greater protection to keep all PTs reels looking as good as they fish.

This reel has been designed to hold up to 150 yards of 12-lb. test, and it has the guts and patience to take on any of the meanest inshore and near shore species that you do. The Energy series gained two PT bearings in the transformation making it now a nine-bearing design.

All weighing in at 7.5 oz, there are four models in the saltwater designation, including right and left hand versions in both the Burner 7:1 gear ratio and the Speed 6.3:1 model. All have the capacity of 150 yds of 12 lb test line

Quantum Cabo PT InShore Rod

Quantum gives facelift and travel models to Cabo Inshore rod series

Quantum brand managers decided it was time to give the Cabo Inshore rod series a total facelift. Just as in their other efforts, the end result here is equally impressive.  The Cabo PT inshore series consists of 14 models, five of which are exciting new travel versions, including casting and spinning options.

All are built on sensitive and durable high-strength modulus graphite blanks. Actions and tapers are custom-selected. Guides are lightweight, corrosion resistant titanium framed with Nanolite inserts. Guides on the travel models are double-foot. Reel seats are Fuji ECS on casting rods and Fuji DPS on spinning. Handles are premium specie-grade cork. The rods have a rich, custom-look finish.

All rods but the travel models are one-piece. The travel versions are three-piece and come in Cordura travel tubes. Regardless of style and action, each sells for around $249.95.

Quantum Blue Runner Spinning Combos

Makes waves in spinning world

Quantum’s new Blue Runner spinning combos were designed with big fish and big water in mind. Four different combos feature smooth performing reels matched perfectly to super tough E-Glass rods.

Blue Runner’s 50- and 60-size reels feature a corrosion resistant stainless steel bail wire and center shaft. That, combined with an anodized aluminum spool, will keep the reels looking and performing sharp, time after time.  Their multi-stop anti-reverse feature provides a positive hook set, protects the gear and prolongs the life of the reels.  All reels have a gear ratio of 4.7:1.

The rods are made with tough E-Glass construction and have long cast handles for medium heavy action.  Blue Runner combos are just as at home in the Great Lakes environment as they are in saltwater.

Quantum Energy PTs Inshore spinning reels

Turn 50 but look and feel 40

Quantum Energy PTs Performance Tuned – Saltwater inshore spinning reels get new 50-size models for the 2010 product year to give anglers more line capacity, but with little increase in reel size and weight.

Quantum engineers redesigned the 40-size models in the two popular inshore series to receive 50-size rotors and spools. Also as part of the process, they incorporated Quantum’s new and improved Thinline aluminum body with aluminum side cover into the transformation, along with also giving them the recently improved TiMag Salt bail system.

The TiMag Salt system features a durable and lifetime warranted nickel-titanium bail wire that helps eliminate the age-old spinning reel problem of bent and broken bails. Additionally, the Quantum exclusive bail system uses powerful magnets instead of springs to snap bails open and closed, solving the other most common spinning reel malady – broken bail springs. With the TiMag upgrade also comes improved bail trip reliability.

The Energy PTs Performance Tuned – Saltwater” inshore spinning reels feature Quantum’s time-tested and proven layered PT ceramic drag system that combines carbon fiber with ceramic discs for exceptional lock down and super-smooth drag performance.

These Energy reels are protected by Quantum’s 6-Layer SaltGuard corrosion protection finish to keep them looking good for a long time.

Quantum Catalyst PTs Inshore spinning Reel

The new Quantum Catalyst PTs Inshore name might sound familiar, but these reels have a totally new look.

Available in 20-, 30- and 40-size reels, all are now thinner and lighter, with the 30-size losing as much as 17 % of its original body weight. The reduction is all part of Quantum trending toward lighter, smaller and faster reels to fit the needs of today’s anglers. Company engineers zeroed in on three target areas to cut the fat: reel body, the Line Management System and rotor design.

With their efforts comes an improved ThinLine body style, still constructed from high-strength aluminum but even thinner and lighter than before. The skeletal design and an aluminum sidecover prevent flexing and keep gears perfectly in place even under the most extreme loads.

The bail holder and bail arm, part of Quantum’s proprietary Line Management System (LMS), have undergone form-fitting changes too, with a new shape that provides a better functioning system called LMSII.  The second version help reduce the reels’ weight, and it still virtually eliminates all the line hassles typically associated with line roller and bail designs.

The rotor also received a makeover, removing as much material as possible and resulting in a smaller, sleeker design, but without compromising strength and performance.

Yet, Catalyst Inshore also kept many of the proven PTs traits. Still there is Maglock II Magnetic Continuous Anti-Reverse, the only magnetic roller clutch in the fishing industry, or, in fact, in any industry. The integral design and the industry’s largest rollers can withstand over two times the load without deflection, and provide better cold weather performance than standard roller bearings.

And it couldn’t be Performance Tuned without keeping PT’s legendary magnetic bail system (no springs to fail), which still features the same tough and lifetime warranted nickel-titanium bail wire. TiMAG III has powerful magnets that provide improved trip reliability, a quicker trip point, and a 30-degree greater bail opening for decreased line slap during casts to also enhance casting distance.

Quantum Mocean Surf Rods

The new Quantum Mocean series of surf rods is pronounced, “motion,” but it’s really more about “action” because these rods are built for long casting and serious catching.

This brand new lineup consists of 15 rod models – six casting and nine spinning – all constructed to answer the demands of the serious surf angler. Rod blanks are lightweight and durable featuring IM6 graphite construction to deliver the desired casting performance at a great value.

The guides are double-footed, double-wrapped Fuji Aluminum Oxide. The spinning models also have a large 50-size stripper guide for better line control coming off the reel for long casting. The number of guides and the Concept guide spacing is a big deal, too, because the combination also enhances casting performance. Reel seats are Genuine Fuji DPS; handles are non-slip cork with a rubber butt.

The casting models range from 8’ medium action to 12’ medium-heavy, with five different handles represented in the assortment. All are two-piece rods. The spinning models range from 7’6 medium action to 11’ heavy. There are five styles of handles among them. All are two-piece rods except for the 7’6”, which is one piece.
