Montrose, Diversey,
Burnham, Belmont or DuSable Book with our Captains to battle the great fighting Chinook or Coho
Salmon. Chinook in the 10 - 20 pound range are common all year long and
the Fall is an excellent time to catch the big spawning females! Coho are
very plentiful in the Spring and limit catches are possible. As Spring
turns into Summer, the fish get larger. Coho up to 8 - 12 pounds can be
caught within sight of Chicago! During the Spring and Summer, you also have a good chance of tying
into some of the aerobatic Steelhead Trout. These fish are large Rainbow
Trout and they can grow to be 15 - 20 pounds. They are great fighters and only about 1 in 4 are
actually landed, but you will certainly remember that battle!
Spring and early Summer are also good for large Brown Trout. The
Illinois Brown Trout record was caught in 1998 right off of Downtown Chicago!
Summer and Early Fall are great times for Lake Trout. These are usually
caught in deep water and they are typically in the 10 - 20 pound class.
Since you are fighting to bring this fish up from 100 - 150 feet, you should
count on sore arms after the battle!
